FAQ

Questions answered clearly and quickly.

Quick answers before you get in touch.

Professionals, families, business owners and people approaching retirement who want more structure, clearer decisions and joined-up advice.

I also work with retirees, pre-retirees, individuals building wealth and clients looking to pass wealth to future generations.

Many of my clients are busy people who want professional guidance and a trusted adviser they can rely on.

Yes. Remote meetings are available, alongside in-person support from Streatham Hill, covering South London, the M4 Corridor and Oxfordshire.

Pensions, investments, protection and long-term financial planning, delivered in a calm, practical and personal way.

That might involve retirement planning, inheritance tax planning, cashflow modelling, or simply helping you organise your finances and create a clear plan for the future.

There is an initial call, initial meeting, research and recommendation at my expense, followed by set-up and ongoing service charges depending on the work involved.

Before any work begins, I'll explain exactly what the costs are, what you'll receive in return, and whether I believe I can provide sufficient value to justify those fees.

I believe financial advice should be transparent, with no surprises.

Yes. Benjamin Beck is an adviser with Julian Harris Adviser Network Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

You should always ensure that any adviser you work with is appropriately authorised and regulated.

As an Independent Financial Adviser, I help people make confident decisions about their money. That might involve retirement planning, investments, pensions, protection, inheritance tax planning, cashflow modelling, or simply helping you organise your finances and create a clear plan for the future.

My role isn't just about recommending products. It's about understanding what matters to you and helping you make informed financial decisions.

Not everybody does. However, if you're approaching retirement, accumulating wealth, running a business, receiving an inheritance, or simply wondering whether you're making the most of your financial opportunities, professional advice can help provide clarity and direction.

Many of my clients come to me because they know where they want to get to, but they're unsure of the best route to take.

My fees depend on the type and complexity of advice required. Before any work begins, I'll explain exactly what the costs are, what you'll receive in return, and whether I believe I can provide sufficient value to justify those fees.

I believe financial advice should be transparent, with no surprises.

I focus on building long-term relationships rather than simply selling products.

My approach combines independent financial advice with genuine financial planning. That means we discuss your goals, lifestyle, family, business interests and future aspirations before considering any recommendations.

I want clients to understand why we're making decisions, not just what we're doing.

Absolutely. Retirement planning is one of the most common reasons people seek advice. I'll help you understand:

I use cashflow modelling wherever appropriate to help clients visualise their future.

  • Whether you're on track to retire when you want
  • How much income your pensions may provide
  • Whether there are any shortfalls
  • How to make retirement more tax efficient
  • How long your money may last

Yes. Many people have accumulated several pensions throughout their career and aren't entirely sure what they have. I can help you understand:

  • What pensions you hold
  • How they're invested
  • What charges you're paying
  • Whether they remain suitable
  • Whether consolidation should be considered

Possibly, but not always. Consolidation can make retirement planning simpler and easier to manage. However, some pensions contain valuable guarantees or benefits that may be lost if transferred.

I review the advantages and disadvantages before making any recommendation.

Yes. I help clients build investment portfolios aligned with their objectives, risk tolerance and time horizon.

Rather than chasing market trends or trying to predict what happens next, I focus on creating investment strategies designed to support long-term financial goals.

Every recommendation starts with understanding you. I consider:

Only then do I recommend an appropriate investment strategy.

  • Your goals
  • Your investment timescale
  • Your attitude to risk
  • Your capacity for loss
  • Your existing assets
  • Your overall financial position

Where appropriate, yes. Financial planning often involves making use of available tax allowances and reliefs. This can include pensions, ISAs, inheritance tax planning and other strategies designed to improve tax efficiency.

My role is to help you keep more of your wealth working towards your goals.

Yes. Many clients are concerned about how much of their estate may eventually pass to HMRC.

I help clients explore strategies that may reduce inheritance tax liabilities while ensuring they retain sufficient assets to support their own lifestyle and objectives.

Yes. Financial planning isn't just about building wealth. It's also about protecting it. I can help arrange:

The aim is to ensure that you and your loved ones are financially protected if the unexpected happens.

  • Life insurance
  • Critical illness cover
  • Income protection
  • Family protection planning
  • Business protection

Our first meeting is simply a conversation. We'll discuss:

It's also an opportunity for us to decide whether we're a good fit to work together.

  • Your current financial position
  • Your goals and aspirations
  • Any concerns you may have
  • Existing pensions and investments
  • Family circumstances
  • Retirement plans

Every client is different. Simple planning cases may be completed relatively quickly, while more complex retirement, investment or estate planning work may require additional research and analysis.

I will always keep you informed throughout the process and explain what happens at each stage.

No. I'm based in Streatham Hill and cover many areas. The list below is not exhaustive.

Remote meetings are also available where appropriate.

  • South London: Streatham, Balham, Clapham Junction, Battersea.
  • M4 Corridor: Slough, Windsor, Maidenhead, Bracknell, Reading, Newbury.
  • Oxfordshire: Oxford, Abingdon, Banbury, Bicester, Witney, Didcot, Henley-on-Thames, Thame, Woodstock.

Cashflow modelling is one of the most powerful planning tools available. It allows us to project your future income, expenditure, assets and liabilities so we can assess whether you are on track to achieve your goals.

In simple terms, it helps answer questions such as:

  • Can I retire early?
  • Will I run out of money?
  • How much can I afford to spend?
  • What happens if markets perform poorly?
  • How much can I leave to my family?

Yes. Many of my clients are self-employed, company directors or business owners. Areas where I commonly help include:

  • Retirement planning
  • Pension contributions
  • Extracting profits tax efficiently
  • Business protection
  • Shareholder protection
  • Succession planning
  • Personal wealth management

That depends on the service you choose. Some clients seek one-off advice, while others work with me on an ongoing basis through regular reviews.

For ongoing clients, regular reviews ensure that recommendations remain aligned with changing circumstances and objectives.

If available, it can be helpful to bring the documents below. Don't worry if you don't have everything. We can identify what's needed together.

  • Pension statements
  • Investment statements
  • Mortgage information
  • Insurance policies
  • Details of savings
  • Details of debts
  • Existing wills or estate planning documents

The simplest way is to book an initial conversation. We'll discuss your circumstances, goals and whether I can help.

If I believe I can add value, I'll explain the next steps and provide details of the relevant costs and services. There is absolutely no obligation to proceed.

My story

A business built around personal service.

Born and raised in Norway, I joined the British Army in 2010 and proudly served until late 2016. Having always had a strong passion for personal finance, I decided to embark on this career path and qualified as a financial adviser.

Previously employed within larger firms, I made the decision to go self-employed in 2024 — delighted to build my own business with a genuine focus on client service. Outside work I enjoy learning, the gym and longer walks to refresh body and mind, and I remain an active Army Reservist.

I am proud to serve in the Army Reserve, and I am also part of FinVet, an informal group established by a former Royal Marine to support veterans and those leaving the Armed Forces with insight, networking and connections within financial services.

Norwegian roots

International background and a genuinely personal perspective.

Army Reserve

Discipline, responsibility and a service-first mindset.

Boutique business

Built around client service, not a faceless process.

FinVet

Helping veterans build connections in financial services.
